Prediabetes and Diabetes
Calvert County Health Department offers free programs for adults with Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes.
Prediabetes is a condition in which blood sugar is high, but not high enough to be type 2 diabetes. An estimated 1 in 3 adults have prediabetes. 9 out of 10 people with prediabetes don't know they have it.
Diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose levels are above normal. When you have diabetes, your body either doesn’t make enough insulin or cannot use its own insulin as well as it should. Approximately 7.2% of Calvert County residents have been diagnosed with diabetes.
